Linear Asset Management - iLINE

iLINE is HCL AXON’s SAP solution add-on for the management of linear or infrastructure assets. iLINE provides linear asset management (LAM) enhancements to SAP including: asset induction, inspection, planning and resource balancing and paperless work execution.

Designed in close collaboration with the SAP LAM team, iLINE is fully compatible with SAP’s LAM enhancements. HCL AXON provides a migration path for customers of iLINE to upgrade their systems to LAM and enhancement pack 5 or 6, and to convert the linear extension data in SAP.

It comprises three key applications:

• Geographic and other informational viewing of assets including, on one SAP screen, geographic maps, network structure, dimensions, layouts, maintenance history, technical structure and business data. This application works between GIS and SAP solutions, supporting key business functions such as Maintenance Planning, Work Dispatching, Work Execution and Asset Commissioning
• Linear asset specific data recording and tracking such as segmentation, positioning and connectivity, as well as the allocation of maintenance work, history and cost to linear segments with an asset, or to multiple connected assets. In common with iMRO, iLINE provides user friendly tools for the management of service bulletins, management of maintenance plans and limits across the infrastructure asset-base, planning and resource balancing and paperless work execution
• Mobile asset maintenance solution based on SAP NetWeaver Mobile 71 or Sybase Unwired Platform

How does iLINE improve maintenance planning?

• Coordinating Maintenance Work
  Companies and agencies with multiple business units will often plan and execute maintenance independently resulting in longer downtimes and inefficient cost management. iLINE enables coordination of these tasks so that users only experience a single outage for multiple maintenance activities.
  
• Understanding the Complete Work Area
  Maintenance work on an asset located close too or around other assets and structures often requires advance preparation to avoid damaging these assets or disrupting the function they serve. If the work force is better prepared, loss of services can be reduced because planners are able to see the entire area before work begins.
• Knowing the Work Site
  For agencies and companies with disparate and remote assets or difficult to locate assets, mapping and knowing the location can save time and thus vastly improve response times. Safety concerns can also be seen beforehand so workers are prepared to face them.
  
• Opportunity Work Management
  When forced to do emergency work within a limited time it may be possible to complete other quick maintenance work in the location at the same time. iLINE makes planners aware of these opportunities to address these issues simultaneously with the emergency response.
  
• Linear and X-Y-Z coordinate systems
  Companies and agencies can have many asset networks and structures that combine linear and traditional coordinate systems. iLINE makes seamless management of the maintenance between these two systems possible.
